The Porsche Carrera Cup North America returns to Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Road Course this weekend with New Zealanders Madeline Stewart and Ryan Yardley amongst a competitive 30-car field.
Driving for Topp Racing, Yardley has impressed in his second Carrera Cup campaign, winning a race at Watkins Glen and taking a further four podiums so far this season. His results have left him third in the standings with six races remaining.
The Kiwi enters this round following his endurance racing debut, where he joined Tyler Hoffman, Anthony McIntosh and Glen McGee at Muhlner Motorsport for the 992 Endurance Cup 12-hour race at Spa earlier this month.
Madeline Stewart was also in action at Spa and returns to her Carra Cup campaign buoyed by a strong run of form that has seen her finish in the points in three of her past five races.
She is currently 16th in the standings but is steadily making back ground on those ahead.
Kellymoss’s Loek Hartog has stormed to a 57-point advantage in the championship and won both races last round at Road America.
JDX Racing’s Alex Sedgewick is second in the title battle, 14 points clear of Yardley, who has Zachary Varnier a further 5 points behind him in fourth.
This weekend’s Porsche Carrera Cup round is in support of IMSA’s Battle on the Bricks and features two practice sessions, qualifying, and two races.
Qualifying begins at 1.35 am NZST on Saturday, before the 40-minute opener at 7.00 am.
The weekend concludes with Race 2 at 3.10 am on Sunday.
All races will be streamed live on YouTube.
