Cam Waters held off a charging Shane van Gisbergen to take his second win of the weekend, while Andre Heimgartner rounded out the podium in third.
Waters had another strong start taking the lead into the first turn while van Gisbergen had a battle with Heimgarter for second.
Heimgartner who started third, went around the outside of van Gisbergen through turn 1 staying there into turn 2 to give him the inside line, taking the position.
Waters quickly built a lead over the pack, holding a 0.7-second advantage over Heimgartner by the end of the opening lap, who in turn had almost a second gap over van Gisbergen.
The Brad Jones Racing entry of Jack Smith received damage on the first lap getting stuck in the middle of a concertina. The damage to the bonnet of his car forced him to make an early stop so the team could flatten the bonnet.
The gap between the top three held fairly steady through the early part of the race, though toward the end of the first stint van Gisbergen started to close the gap to Heimgartner, making the pass for second on lap 14.
Waters was the fist of the leaders to make his pit stop, coming in on lap 19, with van Gisbergen and Heimgartner stopping on lap 22.
Van Gisbergen lost a spot to Heimgartner in the pit lane, as his team opted to go for three tyres, rather than the 2 tyre stop the rest of the leaders had done, though van Gisbergen would retake the position soon after exiting the lane.
Brodie Kostecki and James Courtney both received 15-second penalties through the race, Kostecki for a pit lane speed infringement, while Courtney was penalised for contact with Jake Kostecki.
Courtney later had wheel to wheel contact with Tim Slade on through turns 1 and 2, with the pair running off track and Courtney into the tyre barrier leaving the Tickford car with damage, and an apparent broken steering arm.
The three tyre stop dropped van Gisbergen further back from Waters than he had previously been with more than a 5-second gap.
Van Gisbergen clawed back the gap closing onto the back of Waters’s car on the final lap, but couldn’t get close enough to take the lead.
Waters held on to take the win with van Gisbergen in second, and Heimgartner on the podium in third.
Chris Pither ended the race 22nd.
