Just hours after Chinese driver Ma Qing Hua claimed his maiden TCR China championship he has found himself with a heavy repair job after being nerfed into the wall by rival Rob Huff.
“It’s not about the entry. I was the lead car into the Mandarin corner and with a TCR car it’s not possible [for the field] to flesh out so everybody needs to break and release the throttle a little bit,” a frustrated Ma said.
“The problem is that in the exit when I went full throttle, he did the same. If you watch the replay he pushed me. At this moment any driver will know that if you push a front-wheel-drive car the consequences are serious.
“Rob is a very experienced driver, much more than me. He knows the consequences better than me so I can’t accept this. Every driver knows in Macau that Mandarin corner is one of the most dangerous corners.”
Update: Huff was later penalised 30 seconds after an appeal by Shell Teamwork Lynk & Co Motosport was upheld.
Jason Zhang Zhi Qiang has been declared the winner of the Guia Race.
This year’s Macau event was vastly different to previous years with a lack of international stars making up the entry list. The usual Formula 3 Grand Prix was also replaced by Formula 4 machinery for the first time in 37 years.
