Eight up-and-coming drivers from around the country have recently ventured to the South Island to participate in the Elite Motorsport Academy camp week in Otago.
Circuit racers Ayrton Hodson, Dion Pitt, Bailey Cruse, Blake Knowles, Tom Bewley and Clay Osborne were joined by rally drivers Ari Pettigrew and Zeal Jones for the week-long camp at the Otago Academy of Sport.
Jones would top the camp week’s points table to take home the Bruce McLaren Trophy.
The camp is the first part of a 12-month development program and covers aspects including health and fitness, sports psychology, data analysis, public speaking, media skills and motorsport regulation and procedures.
Elite Motorsport Academy Trustee David Turner was on site with Perspective Group to document the week, with the embedded video below showcasing what athletes were tested and trained on.
