Matthew Payne has finished the second Porsche Carrera Cup race at Bathurst in ninth, moving forward through the early laps.
Payne looked set to continue moving up the field before the race was declared early, finishing after six laps rather than the 11 it was scheduled for.
The Kiwi had a strong start to the race gaining two spots, although he also lost one to Dale Wood on the opening lap. Payne was able to get back past Wood at turn 2.
The first safety car of the race, came out soon after the pass was made, for Max Vidau who had an issue that saw him pull off to the side of the track with damage to the left rear wheel.
The race got back underway on lap 4, though the safety car reappeared soon after, for a crash between Simon Fallon and Nick McBride, which would ultimately see the race ended early, on lap 6.
Callam Hedge was also able to move forward through the race to finish just outside the top 10 in 12th.
Madeline Stewart started the race from the back of the and finished 22nd, the last of the cars classified, though she is continuing to get used to the car, in her debut weekend.
