It’s incredible to believe Mitch Evans has only claimed two Formula E race wins in his five seasons in the championship.
Evans has consistently been a title contender the past few years, and when things fall his way, he is one of the toughest competitors to beat.
Still, a debut championship trophy has continued to elude him.
And with the start of a new season just around the corner, Evans has only one thing on his mind.
“I am excited to take to the track and compete with our rivals this season aiming for the top step of the podium,” he said at the team’s 2022 reveal.
The past two seasons for Evans have ended in heartbreak. Though last season perhaps took that to a new extreme.
The Kiwi had a chance to clinch the championship in the final race. But an electrical fault on the grid meant his car didn’t get off the line, and he was crashed into from behind.
“It’s going to hurt for a long time,” he said that day.
“You just have to accept it and swallow it somehow, even though it’s painful.”
But taking some time to reflect on what unfolded last season has given Evans a reason to be optimistic for 2022.
“As we enter season eight of the Formula E World Championship, I reflect how far we have come as a team since we joined the championship.
“During the previous five seasons we have shown consistent improvement and it was testament to the team that we could celebrate second in the championship last season.”
Evans is teaming with British racer Sam Bird for 16 round 2022 season, which begins in Saudi Arabia in January.
Jaguar also unveiled the look of their new car overnight and a new title sponsor TCS.
