Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ have added to their quickly growing motorsport portfolio by securing rights to screen MotoGP in New Zealand.
The MotoGP World Championship, including every practice and qualifying session, the new Tissot Sprint for MotoGP, and the Grand Prix races of MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3, will be streamed live on ThreeNow.
It’s the second significant addition of motorsport to the service provider in as many months, following February’s accrual of NASCAR and the Xfinity Series.
The race coverage, which kicks off on Saturday, 9 March, will live stream in HD and be ad-break-free during races.
The streaming service will also show races from the FIM Enel MotoE World Championship ā also known as MotoE- an electric competition racing alongside MotoGP at eight Grands Prix across Europe.
In October, and closer to home, fans of two-wheel racing can catch all the action from the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, held at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, and follow the successes of Aussie riders Joel Kelso and Jacob Roulstone in Moto3, Senna Agius in Moto2 and multiple Grand Prix winner Jack Miller, who is set to battle it out in the premier class, MotoGP.
Highlights from the FIM MotoGPā¢ World Championship and FIM Enel MotoE World Championship will also be available each Sunday on CRC Motorsport on Three and ThreeNow.
That’s a shame. ThreeNow has no ‘watch it the next day’ option.
So how long would coverage be available to watch. Eg a Sunday evening Asian round will that be available on Monday to viewā¦.
Currently ThreeNow has no replays available. You either watch it live or not at all.
Hmmmā¦. Thatās a pain. Why would they bother picking up the rights as I imagine only the very ardent followers would watch live on a Sundayā¦..no benefit to advertisersā¦.. Might have to investigate paying for alternative sourceā¦ā¦.
Oops meant live early hours of Saturday (qualli and sprint) and Sunday main races all classesā¦.
What time is the French motogp on Threenow in NZ. I can’t find a timetable. Thanks
Discovery Warners are a corporate piggery. Last year they took downhill mountain biking away from great worldwide Red Bull TV free streaming/replays and stuck it behind a paywall – grow the audience they said – that sport is on life support already. Through intra corporate scheming theyāve snatched MotoGP off free to air and streaming at TVNZ+ and grown the audience at 2am Monday mornings. The connivance and greed of sport corporates like Dorna in erecting paywall barriers or in NZs case just screwing the enthusiastic supporters over (in tough enough times, already) will only shrink interest around the globe. I originally got Sky to watch motocross (gone) U S supercross (gone) MotoGP (gone to sleep instead) and world SBKs (how much longer?)
Thank you Warner Bros. Much respect. Motogp is awesome. Thanks for giving us Kiwis a chance to watch the racing, unlike Sky sport that stopped airing it year’s ago.
James, hv u read the previuose coments about not being able to watch the replay?
Coverage with TVNZ+ of the past year was good with most practises and races available on demand for a couple of weeks. If TV3 is only showing it live I can see it going the way of newshub. No advertising revenue so it gone.
Coverage on TVNZ this past year was great with pratice and races on demand for a couple of weeks. If TV3 only supplies it live then advertisers will not stay and it will go the way of newshub
If motogp not available for next day viewing, it is hopeless as 90% is in Europe and live in early hours of morning.
Agree
Not much use to us kiwiās may as well not got the rights left it where it was very frustrating
Why would you bid for the rights and not show replays on demand,,tvnz had it running sweet ,these guys have a lot to learn
Hmmm, flicked on the TV to watch via the app this morning, expecting to see practice.
No, app kept crashing. Jumped on the iPad and it’s just endless graphics of the program opening.
If we can only watch it live, I may have to shell out for the MotoGP Video Pass.
I have searched the ThreeNow site for Motogp and can’t find it? Is anyone else having this problem in NewZealand? Thanks
Itās not on the sports menu. Itās on live menu. Talk about confusing. My Wife figured it out. But still have to watch live!
I have the app on my smart tv to sign up they want a credit card number why it suppose to be free
So dumb. It’s in the middle of a Sunday night most weekends. Who can watch then? The unemployed I suppose.
I stopped watching all rugby after years of viewing mainly due to all of the sheer c—p & the boring way they play rugby & 2 years ago switched over to MotoGP.
It was great whilst TVONE was showing it last season but I have no idea where to get it now??? Can anyone help me please!! I live in the Bay of Plenty!!
Cheers, Braydon
I’m a bit confused about actual viewing time for MotoGP and nas car XFINITY is it possible to just show the correct view times in the correct NzTime and day please, unlike some my data is expensive for me as a pensioner ,I don’t want to sit around waiting wasting my data to find it is not on the time mentioned thankyou
Absolutely useless being live only. I thought TVNZ+. said last year they had the rights till 2028. Why bid for the rights to MotoGP then make it incredibly difficult for kiwis to watch due time zone. No wonder three is in trouble.
If this coverage isn’t OnDemand there will be no demand! Perhaps OnDemand was far more expensive to secure š
Why do they want a credit card number when the app on smart tv is already there isn’t it suppose to be free
I am guessing Dorna is asking for big money to have races available via on-demand.. Their Videopass is quite expensive also.
Come ThreeNow, you may as well not have the rites. No replay is absolutely ridiculous. TVNZ had it spot on.
This is such a crock of S**t.
Every year MotoGP fans in NZ get mucked around trying to watch the racing.
I agree with the rest of the comments, What’s the use of showing it live if we cant record it or watch the replays.
Thankyou to ThreeNow for showing it at all,But most NZers watch it the next day.
Total fail! Show the replays on demand or why bother?
Ridiculous! No watch later online only on 3 Sport TV and then only highlights. Get with the times.
I love motogp. But only having live coverage in the middle of the night is hopeless. No one will watch it … They wasted their money and offer next to nothing, and frustrated all motogp fans. Let’s vote TVNZ!@!
Thanks for sweet FA. No replays…..no demand, thanks for nothing!
TVNZ courge was great, unfortunately because most of the races are live in the early hours of the morning, I will not be able to see it, waste of time for most people!
Very dissapointing.i spent an hour trying to find it and then read the replies.
Also gutted that I can’t get British superbikes anymore.
Does anybody in NZ know how to get that?
Fully agree with all of the comments on here. TVNZ you could watch it at a time that suited you and just avoid any reports about the results. Hardly anyone is going to be awake to watch it live on NZ. Total waste of time for three to have the broadcast rights.
Waste of time unless we can have it streamed on demand
Man , I agree with most of you. Three dropped the ball with this coverage. Along with posting the wrong viewing times they failed to allow on demand viewing. I suppose that is what you get when the broadcast is by TNT , another in house company of Warner Discovery entertainment.I assumed the times listed were the West Coast US times.TNT have made big thing about getting the US coverage from Dorna. That is most why Warner Discovery have snatched the showing rights from TVNZ. Dont know who the commentary team were but looks like some TNT crowd thrown together at the last minute. Wonder if Three will have a better summary coverage on their Sunday afternoon delayed version.
When Spark Sport took it off Sky it doubled the cost to watch both World SBK and MotoGP š When Spark Sport folded TVNZ+ for free was a bonus but I wondered if they’d keep paying for it as I bet it isn’t cheap to get the rights. I’d personally be happy for Sky to get it back as it makes the cost more worth it and it would be recordable. I really only have Sky Sport for motorbike racing and force myself to watch other things to feel its worth the cost. Try finding a good screen recorder app. My first attempt on laptop wasn’t too successful. Going to try an android app next.
This is so sad, who gets the rights for Moto gp when no one will be able to watch it. I’m so disappointed, as a major gp fan not being able to watch it is really annoying please step your game up and provide better services.
TVNZ coverage last year was so much better. TV3s lack of on demand facility is useless when races are mostly run really late at night or early morning NZ time.
Guys running TV3+ have zero idea what they’re doing, no working guy can watch this sport live, so they’ve basically denied it to NZ MotoGP fans. Moto is the premier motorcycle sport in the World and we can’t see it because of the clueless antics these supposed businessmen. Hope they go broke.
This is just plain stupid! No replays of the full races from all classes is just pathetic! On Demand TV is MADE for middle of the night sport! Get with the times TV3!
Tv3 are uselessā¦I wish Tvnz still had it as it was ideal last year as didnāt have to watch it liveā¦Tv3 have no brains especially when most races are on when nz public are sleepingā¦Sort it out man to have full replays!
Please return MotoGP races to TVNZ + was excellent viewing and reordered for playback going to 3now is a giant leap backwards.
I abso;utely agree with all the raised comments regarding current lack of viewing of MotoGP this year.
Recall when Spark won the rights to Rugby World Cup. I paid them the fee they asked & watched half a match, then quit in frustration. Didn’t even bother asking for refund. Too P—–D off!!
Last year was great. Hoped this year was going to be as good FAIL TOTAL.
Victor
I totally agree with every single comment on this forum, Three Now have totally dropped the ball, even if they do show it on CRC motorsport a week later, it’s a pain trying to avoid the results before watching.
I’ve written to Three now via messenger and no reply whatsoever, I’ve resorted to watching YouTube highlights (cos I’m too tight to pay for the motogp app)
