Fans of the Supercars championship won’t be starved of action for too long.
Post the announcement that the series has postponed rounds from Tasmania, New Zealand and Perth, Supercars CEO Sean Seamer confirmed plans for an Esport series featuring the full cast of real-life Supercars drivers.
Inspiration taken no doubt from the hugely successful ‘The Race All-Star Esports Battle’ which witnessed Formula One, IndyCar and Formula E stars take to the virtual world after their respective championships were postponed, the Supercars Esports series aims to provide fans with action amongst the period of global motorsport cancellations.
Using the iRacing platform featured in last year’s Supercars Eseries, teams will race their own virtual Supercars in their team colours, online from home, on a weekly basis.
The competition will be broadcasted live on Fox Sports, Supercars.com and across Supercars social media channels and the popular streaming service Twitch.
Further details including when the Esport series will be launched are expected to be announced shortly.
