Supercars have issued a statement to confirm that a parity review has been triggered in accordance with championship regulations.
The review will determine if there is a lack of parity between the Gen3 Chevrolet Camaros and Ford Mustangs by combing data from races throughout the season to evaluate how the two manufacturers stack up against one-another.
For the review to be undertaken, results must indicate an imbalance either over five consecutive races, or five of eight championship races.
The final race at the Darwin Triple Crown, which was won by Jack Le Brocq, sees this process meet criteria in order to begin.
To date, Camaro have won all bar one of this season’s races, with Ford’s sole victory coming in the season-opener only after Shane van Gisbergen and Broc Feeney were sensationally disqualified for a cool-system breach post-race.
“The parity review system has been a foundation of the parity assessment throughout the championship over many years,” says Supercars CEO Shane Howard.
“Now that a review has been triggered, we have commenced the nominated process.
“Supercars have met and are working with both Homologating Teams to formulate appropriate recommendations for a parity adjustment.”
Supercars will return to action at the Townsville 500 over the weekend of 7-9 July.
