Plans to effectively merge the Super2 and V8 Touring Car fields have broken down for a second time.
Supercars and V8TC management have been in talks over combining the fields from both championships for 2020, with pre-Car of the Future hardware lining up alongside the current crop of second-tier cars.
According to Motorsport.com, the deal is understood not to go ahead, with V8TC competitors having been informed that pre-existing commercial partnerships made the proposed plan impossible.
Toward the end of last year, Supercars attempted to do something similar after briefly adopting V8TC as an official third tier and renaming it ‘Super3’.
After a deal couldn’t be reached, V8TC formed an alliance with Australian Racing Group and the Super3 moniker was dropped.
