New Zealand driver Madeline Stewart returns to action in the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America this weekend off the back of an announcement she’s a recipient of the Porsche Deluxe Female Driver Development Program.
Stewart, along with former Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship contender Chloe Chambers, who competes in the Cayman class, receives a full season entry into the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America as a result, as well as a set of Yokohama race tyres each round and direct access to Porsche Motorsport Nort America competition advisor and Porsche Junior Program North America driving coach Patrick Long.
“I feel very privileged to be part of the Porsche Female Driver Development Program,” said Stewart. “Coming over to race in the USA this year was a huge step, but I am grateful for the support I have already received.
“Programs like this really help to further my career in motorsport, and it is fantastic to see Porsche Motorsport North America, Yokohama and USAC working so hard to help.”
Stewart currently sits third in the 992 Pro/AM standings and has quickly made progress with team JDX Racing.
On her debut at Sebring, Stewart stormed to pole position, becoming just the second female in history to take top spot in a North American single-make series.
She went on to finish third in class in Race 1 before backing that up with the same result in Race 2.
In Round 2 at Barber, Stewart qualified fourth in class, finishing Race 1 in that position before going one better for third in Race 2.
The Porsche Sprint Challenge North America field will race twice more at Virginia this weekend, with qualifying taking place at 2.45 am on Sunday (NZ Time), followed by Race 1 at 7.10 am. The field return on Monday for one further race, which begins at 3.55 am.
All races will be live-streamed on the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America website.
