Richie Stanaway will pilot the Richards Motorsport Toyota Camry V8 in this weekend’s North Island Endurance Series finale at Pukekohe.
Stanaway recently announced he will be making a return to competitve motor racing with a gig in this year’s Bathurst 1000.
He will partner Greg Murphy in a Boost Mobile-backed wildcard entry.
Team Richards’ usual driver Alexandra Whitley has been ruled out of driving after having a shoulder operation.
Thus, the team has recruited Stanaway to steer the Camry in the one-hour race.
The meeting will be the first time Stanaway has stepped into a race car since walking away from the Supercars fraternity in 2019.
Stanaway’s last race at Pukekohe had him finish ninth in the 2019 Auckland SuperSprint with Garry Rogers Motorsport.
Qualifying for the one-hour will occur on Saturday, June 26.
Racing will then be held Sunday morning and is live on Sky Sport.
