Rodin Motorsports’ Louis Sharp has topped the final practice of the penultimate GB3 Championship at Donington Park ahead of this weekend’s three races.
The championship leader put in a best lap of 1m 23.320s in Friday’s third test session to put over a tenth on the field.
Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Tymek Kucharczyk, who sits third in the championship, 13 points behind Sharp, topped the first two sessions and was second in the final outing.
The Polish driver’s 1m22.943s from first practice was the fastest lap of the day, 0.112s quicker than Sharp’s best effort.
John Bennett, who is just four points behind Sharp in the championship, was third quickest in the final session but only ninth in combined results.
Kiwi teenager Jacob Douglas also enjoyed a solid outing, completing a total of 64 laps to go 16th overall.
Douglas’s best time of 1m 23.913s came in the opening session and was less than one second off the day’s best lap.
In all, the top 17 drivers were split by less than a second, pointing towards an exciting qualifying session on Saturday morning.
The GB3 Championship returns for qualifying at Donington Park at 9.30 pm NZST this evening before the opening race at 2.10 am on Sunday.
Race 2 begins at 10.12 pm on Sunday before the finale at 2.20 am on Monday.
