Shane van Gisbergen will start from pole position for the first race of the weekend at Winton Raceway.
The grid was set by the three-round knockout format, drivers eliminated after each stage.
With Jordan Boys and Jayden Ojeda joining the field this weekend as wildcards, there will be 7 cars eliminated after the first stage, rather than the normal five.
Q1
Reynolds set an impressive time early in the session with a 1.18.25 minute lap to sit 0.4 seconds up on the field with 5 minutes to go.
Shortly after van Gisbergen set a similar time to go to the top of the times 0.018 up on the time Reynolds set.
Van Gisbergen jumped out of the car after setting that time comfortable it would get him through to the next round.
Heimgartner made it through to Q2 comfortably finishing 12th in the first session.
Hazlewood, Percat, Boys, Slade, Pither, Smith, and Jacobson failed to advance to the next round, leaving them to start 21st -27th for the first race of the weekend.
Q2
Reynolds sat at the top of the times after the first run, with a 1.18.72 lap ahead of Brodie Kostecki who was second early in the session but would ultimately just miss out on making the top 10, starting 11th for the race.
Mostert jumped up to first with 1 minute to go after sitting outside the 10 through the first half of the session.
Reynolds jumped up to the top of the times soon after Mostert’s time, while van Gisbergen would sit fourth at the end of the session.
Fellow Kiwi Heimgartner would finish 8th, to advance to the final round of qualifying
Will Davison missed out on the final session set to start 13th on the grid.
Q3
Will Brown sat in P1 after the first run, jumping out of the Erebus car, the team opting to use their tyres early in the session.
As the car went out for their second run the time set by Brown was quickly bettered by van Gisbergen, Mostert and Waters, though the time was good enough to secure a spot on the second row of the grid, starting fourth.
Van Gisbergen put together a strong lap with a time of 1.18.26 to claim pole position, ahead of Cam Waters.
Mostert will start third on the second row alongside Brown.
Reynolds will start from seventh after being strong in the earlier sessions, while Heimgatner will start ninth.
The race will get underway at 5.35 pm this afternoon.
