Sergio Sette Camata has been named test and reserve driver for both Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri for the 2020 season.
The 21-year-old Brazilian had previously been a part of the Red Bull Junior Team back in 2016 but was let go after finishing 11th in his second season of European Formula 3.
Since then, he has contested three consecutive campaigns in Formula 2. In 2019, he was the test and development driver for the McLaren Formula 1 team. He will share duties this year with Nissan e.DAMS driver Sebastien Buemi, who has been Red Bull’s long-serving reserve driver.
“I am extremely happy to join the Red Bull family as Official Test & Reserve driver for the 2020 Formula One season alongside Sebastian,” Sette Camara said.
“I’ve been watching F1 since I was five years old and I’m humbled to have been given this opportunity to work with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri.”
Earlier this year, Sette Camara had tested with Carlin at the COTA Open Test, as well as GEOX Dragon in the Formula E Rookie Test.
