Legendary New Zealand driver and six-time IndyCar winner Scott Dixon will return to Road Atlanta for Petit Le Mans next weekend as he partners Sebastian Bourdais and Renger van der Zande for Chip Gannassi Racing (CGR).
The trio will compete in Gannassi’s #01 Cadillac DPi-V.R in the final race of the season, which also sees out the DPi era for IMSA as they switch to the LMDh class next year, the class also used by Automobile Club de I’Ouest (ACO) in events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
A frequenter of IMSA endurance races, Dixon last took part in the series in January at the 24 Hours of Daytona in partnership with van der Zande, Bourdais and Alex Palou where they finished seventh in the DPi classifications.
The other IMSA event Dixon frequents, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, had to be skipped this year due to a clash with the Texas round of IndyCar.
Petit Le Mans, which runs as a 10 hour endurance, is one which Dixon has had success in before with a win in 2020 and second place finishes in 2015 and 2019.
A stalwart of the event, Dixon has competed at Petit Le Mans every year since 2014.
Ryan Hunter-Reay, a teammate of Dixon at CGR, will also be at the event in partnership with full-time drivers Alex Lynn and New Zealander Earl Bamber in the #2 Cadillac.
Brendon Hartley will also be present, rounding out a strong New Zealand contingent, seeing out the DPi era as he partners with Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque for Wayne Taylor Racing in an Acura ARX-05 DPi.
Practices get underway on Wednesday with the race taking place on October 1 (October 2 NZ).
Petit Le Mans will be shown live on Sky Sport Pop-up 1 (600) from 5am Sunday.
