Steve Brooks and Bill Riding were crowned 1-Hour victors of Round 2 of the North Island Endurance Series at Taupo International Motorsport Park after provisional winner Sebastian Manson was disqualified.
Manson’s Porsche 991 was found to be underweight in post-race scrutineering, resulting in his exclusion from the official results.
Joel Giddy, who finished third after starting in the pit lane, was also excluded from the results, with his Mercedes-AMG GT2 found to be running on the wrong engine MAP.
Therefore, Paul Southam, who finished fourth in a Porsche 992, is elevated to second, with John Goodacre taking the final podium place from fifth.
Rhys Gould (IRC GT), John Midgley (Ford Falcon V8ST), Glenn Cotterill (Porsche 992), Pel Arnott (Hyundai i30N TCR), Brett Celliers (Subaru WRX), Brent Forman (McLaren 570 S GT4) and James Parker (IRC GT) complete the official top ten.
Southam’s promotion to the podium also boosts him to the top of the overall Class 2 & 3 standings, with a two-point advantage over Brooks and Riding. Goodacre sits third, a further six points in arrears.
The 2024 North Island Endurance Series concludes with Round 3 on the Hampton Downs International Circuit on June 15.
