Matthew Payne has locked in a drive for this year’s European Le Mans Series, which sees him race a Ferrari 488 Evo around some of the world’s most famous circuits.
For Payne, racing GTs around the globe has been a lifetime ambition.
The young Kiwi recently partook in a 12 Hour race in Mugello, driving an Earl Bamber Motorsport-prepared Porsche.
He is also dovetailing a first full season in the Australian Super2 championship.
Payne’s European Le Mans venture will see him race at Paul Ricard, Imola, Spa, Algarve and Barcelona.
He had his first test with the JMW Motorsport Team at Silverstone on Tuesday.
“The car is seriously fun to drive and I felt comfortable in this afternoon’s session,” he said about the day.
Payne is racing in the LMGTE class. The other confirmed driver to share the car is Italian racer Giacomo Petrobelli.
His first race is the 4 Hours of Le Castellet on April 15-17.
