Kiwi rally star Hayden Paddon sits fourth overall in the Rally Finland WRC2 standings heading into the final, day three of proceedings tonight. Hometown drivers Teemu Suninen and Emil Lindholm are in a tantalising scrap for top spot with only 10 seconds between them after 18 stages.
Estonian Egon Kaur is currently rounding out the podium places, with Paddon trailing in fourth by just 13.5 seconds. Suninen and Lindholm, however, appear to have run away with the event, putting one and a half minutes on the field.
A clean days running will all but guarantee Paddon a top four spot, with local driver Teemu Asunmaa in fifth, more than two minutes behind the Kiwi. The Fabia pair of Mikko Heikkilä and Samil Pajari were also running towards the front, but seperate issues for the pair saw them both forced to retire from the event.
It’s been clean driving for Paddon in his Hyundai, who, despite not claiming any stage victories, was consistently among the front runners.
The final four stages of the event begin this evening, with SS20 and SS22 being shown live on Spark Sport from 6.30pm (NZ time).
