This weekend, Hayden Paddon will round out his rallying tour across Europe at Rali Ceredigion, part of the British Rally Championship (BRC), in Wales.
Paddon will be alongside co-driver Jared Hudson for the event, with the pair making use of a Hyundai i20 N for the 12 stage, near 140km rally.
Hudson was alongside Paddon when the pair won the South Canterbury Rally earlier this year which has prepared him well for his international debut at Rali Ceredigion.
“We’re very pleased to be concluding our European tour with Rali Ceredigion, an event I’ve heard a great deal about,” said Paddon.
“I have spent some time in the area in the past with Wales Rally GB but normally on the gravel forestry stages, so I’m looking forward to experiencing Welsh tarmac and really appreciate the warm welcome we’ve received in response to our entry.”
In June, Paddon started his European campaign at Rally di Alba in Italy where he finished fourth in the one-day event.
He then took to Latvia for Rally Liepaja to begin his foray into WRC2 where he came sixth, learning valuable information about his newly acquired Hyundai i20 N Rally2 in the process.
The Kiwi was supposed to compete in Rally Estonia in mid July but sadly had to miss the event due to testing positive for Covid-19.
Paddon and co-driver John Kennard came back swinging in their third and final WRC2 event, Rally Finland, where the duo finished fourth but scored third place after Finnish driver Teemu Suninen was disqualified.
Before returning to New Zealand for Repco Rally New Zealand at the end of September, Paddon will give it his all in Wales this weekend.
Rali Ceredigion gets underway on September 3 to 4, 2022.
