Hayden Paddon participated in his first European rally in almost three years at the one-day tarmac Rally di Alba in Italy over the weekend, securing a fourth overall finish in the process.
Paddon said the rally went “much better than expected” achieving two second-fastest times, crossing the line in fourth just 23.9 seconds off the leader.
Co-driver John Kennard was alongside Paddon for the start of their two-year European campaign in the WRC2 category but took on the R5 category at the weekend in a Hyundai Motorsport Rally (HMI) i20 R5.
“A really enjoyable day at Rally di Alba,” said Paddon.
“Our speed has been much better than expected after such a long absence from tarmac and how foreign it all felt at the start.”
The two are now heading to Latvia for the Rally Liepaja which takes place July 1 to 3, this time on gravel.
