Nick Cassidy will get his first taste of some Formula E racing action when he debuts for the Envision Virgin team in the inaugural ‘Race at Home’ Esports series this weekend.
Cassidy contested the real-life Formula E rookie test with the squad earlier this year from Marrakesh where the kiwi obliterated the lap record to top the timesheets.
“Looking forward to this! Making my ABB Formula E debut,” read Cassidy’s announcement on his social media.
“Twitch account soon to follow! Thanks to my friends at Perkins Engineering for their support in making this happen.”
The ‘Race at Home’ virtual series features a unique Battle Royale format where the driver in last position at the end of each lap will be eliminated. When only ten cars remain there will be a one-lap dash to the chequered flag.
Cassidy will be partnered by Envision Virgin regular Robin Frijns who currently rests 15th in the point standings. Fellow New Zealander Mitch Evans has also confirmed his presence for the virtual series.
This weekend will be a pre-season round for the series which gets underway on Sunday April 19 from 2.30 am NZT and will be live streamed via the Formula E website and Facebook platform.
