Greg Murphy and Richie Stanaway are set to make their return to the Bathurst 1000 later this year as a wildcard entry for the Erebus Motorsport team.
Murphy and Stanaway were due to race in last year’s Bathurst event but COVID-19 restrictions meant their efforts were postponed until 2022.
The two kiwi drivers will share the #51 Boost Mobile-backed Erebus Commodore which took to the track this morning in a test session. The car features a bright orange and contrasting black test livery which was unveiled on Tuesday but didn’t get out on track until today due to poor weather conditions.
We can expect to see the #51 Commodore take to the track for additional test days on August 16 and September 20 before the Bathurst 1000 race in October later this year.
The last time we saw Greg Murphy take to the track competitively in a Supercar was at the 2014 Gold Coast 600 while we last saw Richie Stanaway race at Newcastle in 2019.
Murphy and Stanaway will go up against other wildcard entries including Craig Lowndes and Declan Fraser who will be piloting Triple Eight Race Engineering’s #888 Holden Commodore.
