With the first round of Formula Regional Oceania less than a week away, current North Island Formula Ford champion Breanna Morris is quietly confident of her chances against some of the world’s top young talent.
The Aucklander and current North Island Formula Ford champion will drive for Giles Motorsport alongside Americans Ryan Shehan and Chloe Chambers.
Having another female in Chambers alongside is a plus for Morris who said to Velocity News “it’s awesome to have Chloe Chambers as another competitor out there on the grid.”
Whilst most 19-year-olds have been off enjoying summer, Morris has instead had to keep herself busy preparing for a crazy five weeks ahead. That preparation is not just behind the wheel, the youngster recognising a positive mindset will also help lead to success.
“My preparation leading up to my Formula Regional Oceania campaign has been a mix of crazy busy and trying to also relax and mentally prepare for the series,” she said. “
“I’m definitely feeling confident in myself to achieve the goals I have set for myself.”
She says an unfortunate accident at Highlands prior to Christmas won’t affect her performance.
“Unfortunately I lost testing time due to the circumstances, but it hasn’t affected my ability and confidence in the car.”
With a promising career just beginning, Morris won the 2021/22 North Island Formula Ford Championship and backed that up with fourth overall in the national title.
She’s also impressed in Formula First off the back of a promising karting career which includes a championship win in Mini ROK.
Her sights are set on bigger things abroad which she hopes Formula Regional can help her achieve.
“My aim for the series will be to gain more exposure,” she said “and [for my] results to [help me] be able to make the step to racing overseas next year.”
Morris is definitely one to watch this competition, her past experience and results putting her as a possible contender for the title. She has support from a number of people, including motorsport and business magnate Tony Quinn, who is supporting Bree this coming season via his TQF Foundation.
