Scott McLaughlin will make his IMSA Petit Le Mans debut at Road Atlanta this October. US-based software firm Acumatica will back the Kiwi IndyCar driver for the race, with whom he has signed a sponsorship deal until the end of 2025.
No announcement has been made as to who the three-time Supercars champion will partner or what class he will run in the 10-hour, 1,600-kilometre race, but the car is believed to be a prototype.
“I am thrilled to partner with Acumatica, an innovative company that shares my passion for pushing boundaries and achieving greatness,” said McLaughlin.
“Acumatica’s cutting-edge technology and forward-thinking approach perfectly align with the fast-paced worlds of IMSA and INDYCAR racing, positioning us as ideal partners on and off the track.”
Todd Wells, Acumatica’s chief marketing officer, said, “Scott McLaughlin’s dedication to hard work and unwavering pursuit of excellence are qualities that Acumatica strives to achieve in service to our community.
“It’s an honour to have an athlete of Scott’s stature represent Acumatica, and we look forward to supporting him in his races throughout the next two years.”
McLaughlin has competed for Tower Motorsports in two of IMSA’s renowned enduros this year, finishing fifth in class in the 24 Hours of Daytona, despite having electrical issues caused by a water bottle leak, before winning his class at the 12 Hours of Sebring.
He partnered John Farano and Kyffin Simpson in both races, with Josef Newgarden also present in their 24 Hours of Daytona.
Newgarden will instead drive a Penske Porsche 963 Hypercar in Petit Le Mans, which takes place on October 11-14.
