Hunter McElrea gets his first Indy Lights test this weekend.
The Kiwi is with Andretti Autosport for the two-day test on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
McElrea has spent the past two seasons racing in the Indy Pro 2000 series.
He finished third in this year’s championship with three race wins.
Indy Lights is the next step on the Road to Indy ladder and is one tier below a seat in the IndyCar Series.
And McElrea isn’t the only Kiwi at the hallowed Indy Speedway this weekend.
Billy Frazer is testing an Indy Pro 2000 car with Exclusive Autosport.
Frazer made his U.S debut with the Exclusive Autosport team in the USF2000 series.
The teenager finished 12th in the standings and was the fourth-highest rookie.
His best result this year was a pair of fourth-place finishes at St Petersburg and Mid-Ohio.
McElrea and Frazer will have six 45-minute tests across the weekend.
