Matthew Payne will start the first Super 2 race of the weekend in Perth from pole position.
Payne put together a strong banker lap early in the session which would see him jump to the top of the timesheets.
Some drivers struggled to put together a lap, dealing with traffic on the short Perth layout.
The banker laps drivers set became important when Elly Morrow found herself stuck in the gravel trap, bringing out the red flag with just over a minute remaining in the session.
With the session not restarting Payne held onto pole position, with a lap just shy of two tenths faster than Jaylyn Robotham who will start alongside on the front row.
“I think the track rubbered up a bit from yesterday and the Soft tyres from the Supercars,” Payne said after the session.
“I didn’t put new tyres on yesterday, so I didn’t know what to expect.
“Obviously came out with it, and it was really good.”
The 26 lap Super 2 race will get underway at 9.20 pm tonight, with the feild back on track for another qualifying session and then the final race of the weekend tomorrow
