Matthew Payne will start this weekend’s first Super2 race from fifth.
Payne set a 02:07.0341 lap early in the session to ensure he had a banker lap; before two red flags were brought out in the second half of the session.
The first was brought out by Super3 driver Nash Morris, who had a crash going through the case, which saw him stuck in the gravel trap.
The session restarted for the Super 2 divers with five minutes left on the clock.
As drivers were starting their first fast laps on their green tyres, the second red flag came out, ending the session early before anyone had the chance to set a time on green tyres.
Angelo Mouzouris had a big crash on his way into Forest’s Elbow bringing out the flag as the car came to rest on the entry to conrod straight.
That saw the field’s early banker laps determine this starting position, putting series leader Broc Feeney on pole, with Jayden Ojeda alongside on the front row.
The second row will be occupied by Jordan Boys and Zac Best, with Payne starting on the third row alongside Tyler Everingham, in sixth.
The field has already lost one entry this weekend after Declan Fraser crashed heavily in practice yesterday, putting the car out for the rest of the weekend.
Super2 will have a second qualifying session this afternoon at 5.10 pm before their first race of the weekend tomorrow at 5.30 pm.
