After three races across the weekend, Round 3 of the Golden Homes GT New Zealand Championship at Taupo has seen Luke Manson take the round win in Open Class and Jono McFarlane take GT4 honours.
In the Open Class, with the round win taken by Manson, he was followed to the podium by Rob Steele & Paul Southam in second with Marco Giltrap in third.
To clinch the Open Class win, Manson secured a win in the one hour feature race on Saturday, as well as a third in race two, and sixth in race three.
In GT4, following three races, McFarlane in his Mercedes AMG won the round, ahead of Stephen Harrison in second with his Aston Martin and Nigel Cromie in his McLaren in third. He secured round honours with second in the one hour race on Saturday, fifth in race two on Sunday, and second in race three on Sunday afternoon.
The weekend results throw both open class and GT4 championships wide open, with McFarlane now leading the GT4 Championship on 771 points, with defending GT4 Champion Cromie second on 721, and Harrison in his Aston Martin third on 670.
In Open Class, Giltrap now leads on 739, despite a frustrating weekend, and still yet to clinch a win in the championship. Heremana Malmezac holds second place on 707 with Luke Manson just five points behind on 702.
With just three races remaining ahead of the next round next month at Manfeild, there is still plenty to play for in both classes, with anyone in the top five of both championships within striking distance of taking the top spot by seasons end.
The final round of the Golden Homes GT New Zealand Championship will be held at Manfeild, 14-16 April.
