Madeline Stewart will make her Porsche Carrera Cup debut at Mount Panorama later this year.
The New Zealander has spent this season racing in the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge under the Earl Bamber Motorsport banner.
She is 14th in the driver’s standings. Her teammate, Callum Hedge, is also a Kiwi and recently flew to Italy to compete in the Formula Regional European championship.
The Carrera Cup is the next step on the Australian Porsche ranks and is one of the most hotly fought single-make GT series.
Stewart will again be with Earl Bamber Motorsport for the Bathurst round.
It will be her first time driving a race car in a competitive environment since May.
“It’s been a tough year,” Stewart said.
“We have done a few test days and have made a lot of progress, so I am very excited to take this to the mountain.
“The most laps I’ve done around Bathurst was earlier on in the year at the 6 Hour, but Bathurst in a cup car will be a cool combo, and I cannot wait to drive it.
“The calibre of drivers in Carrera Cup is extremely high, so I am looking forward to getting the experience racing against them in such a competitive field.”
This year is Earl Bamber Motorsport’s first season fielding a team in the Australian championship.
Defending Toyota Racing Series champion Matthew Payne has been with the outfit for the full season and picked up his first race win at the last round in Townsville.
The 2021 Bathurst 1000 begins on Tuesday, November 30 and runs until December 5.
