Louis Sharp has had a lot of success this year, but today’s win is one of the sweetest, coming on a Grand Prix weekend as Formula 4 UAE run a non-championship round in support of Formula 1.
His success tonight comes off the back of a solid qualifying session this morning, which saw him start with the leaders off the second row.
He had a familiar foe ahead with 2022 British Formula 4 winner Alex Dunne starting from pole.
Not only did Sharp manage to pass the two drivers ahead, he also managed to put time on them, coming home just shy of six seconds ahead of the field.
It was Dunne who took second place in front of local driver Keanu Al Azhari.
With the world watching and a large crowd present, it’s Sharp’s first event on a Grand Prix schedule. He’s made that one to remember with his win and the sound of the New Zealand national anthem playing throughout the venue.
The 15-year-old showed consistent pace throughout race proceedings in his march to the win, claiming the fastest lap along the way as he completed 13 laps in the 25 minute race.
“Proud, proud moment,” was the caption on his Facebook post as he claimed his winners trophy in a paddock full of motorsport royalty.
Sharp will compete again at 8.45pm on Sunday for his final race of the meet.
Unfortunately there’s no live stream of the event, but the F4 UAE and Louis Sharp Motorsport pages provide regular updates.
