With some struggles in FP1 in relation to the track limits, Lawson really found his form in FP2 setting a blistering fastest lap of 1.29.275.
In FP1 Lawson was only good enough for 5th fastest with Alex Albon bettering the Kiwi in an identical Ferrari chassis.
Albon could not pull out the same pace in the second session finishing down in 14th after a front left tyre issue occurred when he bounced over a rumble strip.
But Liam was back on form in FP2 showing some excellent speed ahead of qualifying. Although, the car did run into some difficulties around the mid-point of the session with a possible issue involving the left rear tyre.
But after a test pit stop run and checks by the mechanics it was all go for the Kiwi who then went on to set the best lap of the session.
Liam is currently sitting in 5th in the championship after unfortunately failing to score points at the previous round.
His time at the Nürburgring was riddled with bad luck. In race 1 his Ferrari was spun out by a guest driver and then in the second race his car suffered not one, but two devastating punctures.
The points standings for the season still see Kelvin Van der Linde in first but 2 German drivers have crept into the top 3.
Alex Albon is now in 4th just 2 points ahead of Lawson in the Ferrari. So, Lawson is currently in 5th on 80 points with first placed Van der Linde ahead in first on 129 points.
The season is far from over so here’s hoping Lawson pulls together a great qualifying lap tomorrow and an event better spell of skill and luck in the first race!
