After struggling to find pace in practice, Lawson has sped to an impressive P3 in Germany.
Starting from the front row of the grid, Lawson will have 18kg of added success ballast.
Kelvin Van Der Linde claimed pole position and earned the full 3 points for qualifying. He starts the race without ballast due to his 4th place finish in Assen.
Meanwhile, ahead of Lawson, starting from P2 is previous race winner Lucas Auer who inherits the full 25kg of added weight.
It will be a tough start for Lawson surrounded by the German V8 chassis down the straight into turn one and onto turn two.
The other non-German cars managed 9th in the form of Alex Albon with Muth in his Lamborghini down in 11th.
Lawson said in a post quali interview: “Most importantly we need to grab the points and keep pushing for this championship.”
