Kiwi driver Brendon Leitch heads to Portugal this week for the final round of the 2023 Le Mans Cup (LMC). With usual co-driver Gerhard Watzinger side-lined with an injury, Leitch will be joined by Gregg Gorski competing in the #70 Crowdstrike Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO for the round at Algarve International Circuit, Portimão.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” commented Leitch. “It is a very cool and fun track. It’s definitely a driver’s circuit with lots of elevation and opportunities for passing.
“We competed there last season at the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Final.”
Both LMP3 and GT3 titles will be decided in Portimão with 25 teams, 40 cars and 80 drivers all taking part in a two-hour race on Sunday.
“We will be trying for a podium, that will be the goal,” said Leitch. “Anything can happen in a two-hour race so first we need to make sure we finish. At the moment, it is looking like rain and a wet race!”
The Portimao Round of the 2023 Le Mans Cup takes place over four days, 19-22 October 2023.
Free Practice 1 takes place on Thursday with a Bronze Driver Collective Test on Friday, Free Practice 2 and qualifying on Saturday and the season finale on Sunday starting at 09h00 local time.
