Brendon Leitch will return for a second season in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe for Leipert Motorsport.
The German outfit has entered five Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 into the competition, two in the Pro class and three in AM.
Leitch gets the nod as a solo driver for an entire Pro campaign in the #86, with Yury Wagner and Patrik Matthiesen as his teammates, partnering up to share the #99.
“Very happy to announce my second full campaign for this year!” Leitch posted on social media.
“Thanks to Dayle ITM, Crowdstrike and Leipert Motorsport, I will compete alone in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo European Championship for the title.
“Very excited for this to begin in the coming months!”
Leitch is doing double duties again this year, also competing in the 2023 Le Mans Cup with AM driver Gerhard Watzinger.
The duo also partnered in last year’s Super Trofeo Europe, driving to mixed success over the season in the Pro-AM class. The highlight of their season, however, was a podium in the renowned Grand Finals at Portimao.
“It is fantastic to be represented in the LST Europe with five cars for the third year in a row,” say Leipert Motorsport Managing Directors Marcel Leipert and Marc Poos. “We are happy and proud about the trust placed in us, which reflects the continuity and cohesion in the team and as a motorsport family for years.
“The Lamborghini Super Trofeo is the ideal platform for both young up-and-coming drivers and ambitious gentleman drivers. We have a very good mix of young and experienced drivers and want to fight for the championship title in both classes. The conditions for this are very good and we can hardly wait for the season to start at Paul Ricard.”
The season was meant to get underway on 5-7 May at Imola, but construction delays of enhanced pit buildings and paddock renovations means Leitch will have to wait until June 2-4 for his first weekend of Super Trofeo action at Circuit Paul Ricard in France. A replacement date for the Imola round will be announced in due course.
The final round of the competition at Vallelunga also brings Super Trofeo Asia and America competitors to Italy, drivers first to compete in their respective championships before combining for the Grand Finals that weekend.
