Anthony Leighs and Tom Alexander have topped the timesheets in practice for the 3-hour field at Ruapuna for the final round of the South Island Endurance Series.
The pair’s Nissan GTR finished the session more than three seconds clear of Glenn Smith and Damon Leitch’s entry, after setting a 1.20.3 minute lap.
Smith and Leitch ended the session with a 1.23.7 lap time in their McLaren 650s GT3.
The pair are returning to the series after missing the last round at Teratonga.
Ryan Wood topped timesheets for the 1-hour Class C and D session with a time of 1.22.5, lapping almost two seconds under the previous lap record for the class.
Wood is competing in a Porsche 911 Cup Car, with Jordan Michals 2.6 seconds slower, with a tight back of cars from second. How many wins so far this season.
Wood will attempt to win his fourth successive race in tomorrow afternoon’s race.
Rhys Gould finished first in the 1-hour Class A and B practice session.
Gould had set a time that put him almost two seconds faster than Steven Kelly, who ended the session in second.
Tomorrow will see the cars back out on track for qualifying and their respective races, sessions kicking off at 9 am for the 1-hour Class A and B session, with the first race of the day starting at 10.20 am.
