The 2K Cup Sunday iRacing League has continued to go from strength to strength since its inaugural round a fortnight ago.
This weekend’s third round from Laguna Seca includes a star-studded line-up featuring several of New Zealand’s top motorsport talent as well as some of the nation’s best sim-racers.
Headlining the event will be 2016 Supercars Champion Shane Van Gisbergen. The Red Bull Holden Racing man is also preparing for the opening Supercars All Stars Eseries event which begins on April 8.
Another interesting addition to the field is 2018 New Zealand Grand Prix winner and Toyota Racing Series champion Liam Lawson. The 18-year-old will have his teeth cut out for him when he pairs against ex-TRS rivals Taylor Cockerton and Brendon Leitch.
Three-time Porsche Carrera Cup Asia champion Chris Van Der Drift makes a welcomed appearance, as does multiple racing champion Gene Rollinson.
Toyota 86 drivers Peter Vodanovich, Jaden Ransley and Kaleb Ngatoa will also feature in the event but will be up against a strong contingent of 2KCUP drivers who are all itching to steal a win.
But it is not just four-wheels stealing all the limelight. New Zealand Superbike Sloan Frost is another confirmed starter for the online race.
Round Three will feature an open pre-qualifying on Saturday. The fastest 35 will go onto Sunday’s broadcasted feature race while the remainder will be split into rookie and allcomer classes.
The main race on Sunday will be shown live on the 2KCUP Facebook page and a YouTube link.
