Brodie Kostecki has topped the third and final practice session this evening ahead of this weekend’s Newcastle 500.
The Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus driver clocked a best lap of 1:11.4068 around the Newcastle Street Circuit to better Kiwi Shane van Gisbergen by just .0557 seconds.
Chaz Mostert was third quickest- and top Mustang- to fall just short of top spot. Only .0760 second separated the top three drivers.
Andre Heimgartner, who has been fast all day, could only managed the 13th best time ahead of the 15th-placed Matt Payne.
The top ten was once again evenly split between Mustangs and Camaros.
All drivers emerged unscathed from today’s practices with little drama on-track. Escape roads at Turns 1 & 2 were kept busy, however were useful for their purpose to prevent any incidents.
Qualifying tomorrow is where each manufacturer’s true pace will be revealed. It begins at 1.15pm ahead of the Top 10 Shootout at 2.35.
The opening race of the 2023 season, and first of the Gen3 era, begins at 5.20pm.
Sunday will bring the same schedule and times.
