New Zealand’s Cormac Buchanan continues to impress in his Moto3 rookie season, securing 15th place on the grid for Sunday’s race at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). The young Kiwi, riding for DENSSI BOE Motorsports, once again showcased his resilience and growing confidence as he adapts to the cutthroat world of Grand Prix racing.

Buchanan’s BOE teammate, Ruche Moodley, will start in 22nd place for the race, which will begin tomorrow at 5:00 AM NZT and be available to watch on ThreeNow.
The Moto3 qualifying session was nothing short of dramatic, with David Muñoz snatching pole position in a stunning late-session surge. The Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP rider had yet to set a time before his final flying lap catapulted him to the top of the timesheets, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the session.
With COTA’s long lap and early-session crashes delaying several riders, the final moments of qualifying became a frantic battle for positions.
For Buchanan, qualifying inside the top 15 is another step forward in what has been a strong debut campaign. The 17-year-old has finished in the points in both of his starts so far, overcoming early setbacks in each race.
His ability to adapt and improve has been evident as he steadily closes the gap to the frontrunners despite learning each track on the fly.
Since the last round, Buchanan has been working hard to refine his skills back home, preparing himself for the unique challenges of COTA’s demanding 20-turn layout.
His determination, combined with a solid qualifying performance, sets the stage for an exciting race where he’ll aim to add more points to his tally.
With a competitive grid and the ever-present unpredictability of Moto3 racing, all eyes will be on the Kiwi sensation as he takes on the iconic American circuit. Can he push his way further up the order and secure another strong result? Fans won’t have to wait long to find out.
