New Zealand’s Jaxon Evans and driving partner Tim Zimmerman have taken victory in the opening race of the ADAC GT Masters season at Hockenheimring overnight.
Evans brought home Huber Racing’s Porsche 911 GT3 R for the win, overtaking Igor Walilkoto to take the lead following a late Safety Car, charging to an 8-second victory.
The win is the perfect introduction for Huber Racing into the ADAC GT Masters and also the first for the Porsche 911 GT3 R from the 992 series.
“I am overjoyed to be able to celebrate our first victory in the ADAC GT Masters,” Evans said following the race. “The closing stages were very wild and dominated by a lot of battles. The decisive overtaking manoeuvre allowed me to leave all that behind me and take the win.
“Tim did a great job of preparing the groundwork and looking after the tyres, which meant I was still able to go on the attack at the end of the race.”
The ADAC GT Masters returns for one further race at 11.00 pm on Sunday. Coverage can be viewed live on the ADAC Motorsports YouTube.
