Jaxon Evans finished sixth in the second round of the Mobil 1 Porsche Supercup in Austria, bagging a healthy dose of championship points.
Qualifying fifth, Evans dropped a spot to Max van Splunteren at turn three on the opening lap.
Despite repeated attacks to get back past the Dutch driver, Evans couldn’t muster a way back past.
“Jaxon nudged me slightly a few times under braking, but I always managed to keep him behind me on the next straight,” Splunteren said.
Evans was also kept on his toes by Christopher Zöchling for most of the race but he resisted each attack.
The race was won by Larry ten Voorde, who put in a dominant lights-to-flag performance, adding to his victory in the season opener at Monaco.
Porsche Junior Ayhancan Güven converted a front row start into a second-place finish.
Leon Köhler slipped past the Evans’ teammate Dorian Boccolacci on the opening lap, and the pair finished third and second.
Evans slips back to third in the driver’s standings after two of eight races, just one point adrift of Boccolacci in second.
The Porsche Supercup returns to the Red Bull Ring next weekend for round three.
