New Zealand racer Jacob Douglas has taken a commanding race win in USF2000 in the YACademy Winter Series rounds at Homestead Miami Speedway.
Seven seconds was the gap between Douglas and second-placed Max Taylor with Zack Ping a further 10 seconds up the road.
He also set the fastest lap of the race, some half a second quicker than the next best.
It’s a commanding start to the event for the Kiwi whose increase in pace in the new year is extremely evident, the gaps themselves doing the talking.
The Kiwi also topped both practice sessions prior to qualifying before a blistering 1min 29.402sec saw him top Taylor by seven tenths of a second to take top spot.
It backs up his stunning performance at Sebring just days ago where he won all three races in convincing fashion to take a convincing series lead.
Douglas will race two further times tonight to bring the series to a close.
It’s the perfect run-in to the USF2000 season for Douglas as he looks to work his way up the Road to Indy pathway.
If pre-season results are anything to go by then it would be hard to overlook Douglas as a championship contender when the season begins at St. Petersburg next month.
Whilst races aren’t live streamed you can follow Douglas’s progress on Race Monitor.
