Formula Regional Americas Championship winner Callum Hedge wrapped up his 2023 campaign at Circuit of the Americas with a further victory and a second place.
Having claimed the title by winning Friday’s race, Hedge backed up his success with second place in Saturday morning’s opener, finishing behind only Oliver Westling.
Hedge had led all race off pole and controlled an early restart but had Westling close behind for its entirety, and the latter was able to sneak through for the win on the final corner of the last lap, with just 0.05 seconds separating the pair.
Hedge had held a 1.6-second lead entering the final stages but dropped his pace as a rear wheel bearing started to fail.
It was smoother sailing in Saturday’s finale, the final race of 2023, with Hedge dominating from the pole to claim a 9.25-second victory.
The results see him claim the title by a massive 105 points over rival Ryan Shehan, who struggled to make any inroads into the Kiwi’s domination at COTA.
Hedge now heads to Europe for the Porsche Junior Shootout, where he faces off against top global talent for a paid seat in the Porsche Supercup series, before returning to Australia for the final round of the Porsche Carrera Cup in Adelaide.
