Has Sky TV quietly renewed its broadcasting rights with NASCAR?
Sky’s online TV guide shows this weekend’s Cup car race at Dover Motor Speedway is broadcasted live on Sky Sport 4.
Obviously, it’s Saturday night, so Sky wasn’t exactly ‘awake’ to answer my calls and confirm this is true. Still, this evidence might just be the early proof we need to say, ‘yes, Sky has got NASCAR TV rights back.’
Velocity first identified Sky’s NASCAR dilemma in February.
Back then, all we were told was, “Sky are working on it.”
And so, we got in touch with Sky’s rival, Spark Sport, and asked if they were considering picking up the NASCAR coverage.
“No,” was the answer we received.
That’s meant, until now, Kiwi NASCAR fans have had to use the dodgy side of the internet to get their live coverage fix.
Thankfully, that hassle might be over.
Sky’s motorsport promo webpage still doesn’t advertise NASCAR. Well, at least not at 9.09 pm on Saturday.
However, that might simply be because of the late timing for all this.
Either that or someone at Sky HQ really messed up the weekend’s sporting guide.
But, hey, it’s Sky.
Wouldn’t surprise you, would it?
