The 90th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is officially underway with three kiwis partaking in this year’s event.
With seven hours down, the opening stages of the race have been fairly consistent for the #8 Toyota of Brendon Hartley who started on pole.
Toyota Gazoo Racing team are putting up a strong performance with both cars in first and second.
After each car’s ninth pitstop, the #8 Toyota now driven by Sebastian Buemi leads Mike Conway in the #7 Toyota with the two constantly swapping positions throughout the race.
The Toyota pair are over a lap clear of the two Glickenhaus Racing Hypercar entries.
The Riley Motorsport #74 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo Shane Van Gisbergen is competing with this weekend currently sits 7th in the GTE-Pro class and 37th overall with Felipe Fraga behind the wheel.
Fellow kiwi Nick Cassidy racing in the #54 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo for AF Course sits 10th in the GTE-Am class and 48th overall.
It’s a long race ahead with just under 17 hours left to go.
