Richie Stanaway will be back in action this weekend, competing for Triple Eight Race Engineering with Prince Jefri Ibrahim in Round 2 of the GT World Challenge Australia.
The round is being run in support of the Perth SuperSprint, meaning regular driver Broc Feeney is unavailable due to his Supercars commitments.
Stanaway and Prince Ibrahim will drive Triple Eight’s #888 Mercedes-AMG over two 60-minute races at Wanneroo Raceway. They’ll also have Jamie Whincup and Prince Abu Baker competing in the sister #88 Mercedes.
It will be Stanaway’s second outing for Triple Eight this year following his debut for the team at the Bathurst 12-Hour. The Kiwi partnered Whincup and Prince Ibrahim for that event, finishing third of the Pro-Am entries and tenth overall.
Since signing with Triple Eight Race Engineering in January, Stanaway has received some excellent seat time, first with some Gen3 testing and then with the Bathurst 12-Hour. He’ll also team up with Shane van Gisbergen for this year’s Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000, making for a solid all-Kiwi challenge on both Supercars’ enduros.
Keep an eye out for Friday’s Motorsport Diary to see what times he is competing and how you can follow.
