Marco Giltrap and Chris van der Drift leave Round 2 of Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia at The Bend, having extended their championship lead.
The Lamborghini Auckland entry, run by Absolute Racing, backed up Saturday’s win to finish second on Sunday at the South Australian circuit. Solo driver Jonathan Cecotto was back atop the podium in Race 2, and this time the result stuck, offering some redemption for Saturday’s 30-second post-race penalty, which dropped him down the order.
Giltrap had qualified third for the race, and a well-managed stint saw him retain his position until the pit window opened.
Van der Drift was handed the car at the mid-point, briefly leading while the pit window cycled, Cecotto retaking the lead and never looking back to take victory by 13 seconds over the Kiwi.
The result makes it four podium finishes in four races for the Kiwi entry, who continue to grow their lead atop the Super Trofeo standings.
Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia returns on July 14-16 for Round 3 on the iconic Fuji circuit in Japan.
Van der Drift will return for Round 4 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia before that, on June 30-July 2, while Giltrap will take part in Round 3 of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Australia that same weekend.
