Triple Eight Race Engineering have unveiled the livery of their wildcard entry for Bathurst this year, a car which will be driven by none-other than Craig Lowndes and Super2 series leader Declan Fraser.
The duo will compete in the #888 Supercheap Auto Commodore as a wildcard entry for Triple Eight Race Engineering, the livery put on show outside the Bathurst Supercheap Auto store in a launch yesterday.
Thousands of fans have their faces on the car, the result of a competition run by the team over the past months.
There is also a heartbeat on the paint scheme, in reference to the passion supporters share of the sport.
Mountains in reference to Mount Panorama, Bathurst, are also featured on the rear panels of the car.
In an interview with supercars.com, Lowndes shared his thoughts on the car, and upcoming race.
“I’m really excited to share our livery with everyone,” Lowndes said.
“It’s the biggest race of the year and to be able to share it with our fans and literally take them on the ride around The Mountain with Declan and I is something truly memorable.
“Both Declan and I are really excited to hit the track on Thursday.”
Lowndes is a Bathurst veteran, 29 starts in The Great Race with seven victories. In comparison, Fraser is a Bathurst 1000 rookie. He has got good company to see him through, however.
Race weekend begins on Thursday, with the Bathurst 1000 running over Sunday afternoon NZ time.
