The 2025 New Zealand Endurance Racing Championship promises a thrilling season with significant rule changes designed to promote competition and strategy. These updates, a joint initiative of SIERDC and NIERDC, will impact multiple classes, creating a more dynamic and exciting racing environment.
A key development is the introduction of Balance of Performance (BOP) regulations to the GT3 class. For the first time, weight, air intake, and boost levels will be adjusted to create a more balanced and competitive Class 1 field.

Further enhancing the racing experience, the 3-hour races will see a substantial change: Elite (Pro) drivers paired with Amateurs in Classes 2 through 5 will enjoy an increased driving time of 95 minutes – a 25-minute extension from the previous rules.
This should result in closer, more intense racing, offering drivers greater opportunities to showcase their skills. The impact extends to Class 2, where drivers can now realistically challenge their Class 1 counterparts.
This strategic adjustment offers greater flexibility for pit stops and driver changes, significantly improving the chances of winning within their class. It even opens up the potential for Class 2 contenders to compete for overall victory.
Eligibility for the NZ Endurance Class Championship title’s requires participation in at least one round in both the North and South Islands series. This ensures a truly national competition showcasing the best endurance racing talent New Zealand has to offer.
