A 1:29.9187 flyer in this afternoon’s Top 10 Shootout has earned Will Davison the pole for Race 2 of the Sydney SuperNight at Sydney Motorsport Park by just 0.0007 seconds over Chaz Mostert.
Having provisionally qualified fourth, ahead of Mostert, the Shell V-Power Racing driver leapt ahead of Mostert and into provisional pole as the seventh driver to set a lap.
Nick Percat, Tim Slade, and Cam Waters were unable to replicate the time, giving the 41-year-old his 30th career pole.
Percat starts as the first Camaro in third, falling 0.1141s short of the lead time. His 1:30.0328 was, however, 0.0052 seconds to the good of Saturday’s pole-sitter Waters, who will start alongside him for tonight’s 51-lap outing.
Anton De Pasquale qualified fifth, two-tenths off his teammate, and will line up next to championship leader Will Brown.
Tim Slade dropped from second to seventh in the shootout and starts on the fourth row next to James Golding.
Ryan Wood starts as the leading Kiwi in ninth, pipping David Reynolds, who completed the top ten.
This evening’s Supercars race in Sydney begins at 6.05 pm NZST and will be shown live on Sky Sport.
